Christina Jékey

Sculptures
The healing power of art "Art has powers that reason does not explain" Through her works, visual artist Christina Jékey seeks to create harmony, healing and inner peace... Works both exceptional and personal, recognized for their beauty and their beneficial energies. An atypical artist It is 10 years since Christina changed life, abandoning the rigour of administration to engage full time to creating, her degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels in pocket. Her multiplex sculptures recognizable among a thousand thanks to their sensual undulations and sophisticated stripes surprise, intrigue, soothe ... Everything like her new ultra-colourful works in stained MDF in the mass and manually varnished by pad. Her strength? A flawless technique and a vivid imagination that cause her to constantly innovate. Her last rich and varied works are an indisputable proof. Heart strokes for her latest creations in the colours of the cosmos … endless spiral ... and her beings of blue, purple and yellow light… A fascinating and poetic world between dream and reality, which appeals to Belgian and foreign galleries but also the world of haute couture, the designer Stéphane Rolland taking inspiration from her works to design his winter collection 2012-2013, and to the cinema, as her sculptures will be staged in the new film by Stefan Liberski "Tokyo fiancée", in rooms in 2014. Far from stopping her good way, Christina imagines trophies for prestigious events and exposes everywhere abroad, especially in NY and Singapore ... Meditative works Technique alone does not explain the attraction caused by the works of Christina Jékey ... At the heart of her creative process, there is also spirituality, vibrations, meditation. To create works that cannot help but touch, Christina re-transcribes her dreams, ideas that come in the morning, in a semi-awake state. Her multiplex sculptures are not only extremely graphic but have also and above all something extra, an emanation, a radiation, a supplement of soul which spreads harmony and strength to everything around them. Works both disturbing and seductive, rich in multiple readings, upon the image of what she calls her "Sculptulitaires". Pieces both beautiful and functional, such as the famous colourful table "Flamenco" whose foot spirals evoke the dress and the curves of a Spanish dancer ... Of Hungarian origin, Christina Jékey was born in Brussels in 1962. Artist for over 20 years, her passion led her in 2002 to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, where she obtained her license with "High Distinction". The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions in Belgium and abroad. Her works are to be found in many private collections (Belgium, France, UK, Switzerland, Austria, USA, United Arab Emirates, ...). "Tireless explorer of the multiple possibilities of various materials, such as wood, metal, stone, ... Christina Jékey occupies the space in an intense way. She flushes out all the possibilities of the original material and invents a new life for it. She develops a demanding, meditative work, which questions the laws of the universe, and which, in line with some great contemporary sculptors, also dares, simply, to assert beauty. Her works fascinate us and offer us what is called a supplement of soul, without any compromise". JD
